2.   From DAJ DADDIO@aol.com

Thank you for your information. I am a direct descendant of Watts. My paternal grandmother was Ruby Watts her father Carew Watts his father George "Bud" Watts his father Francis Marion Watts Jr. his father Francis Marion Watts Sr. The junior was married to Vasti Edwards the Sr. was married to possibly Cynthia Putnam . My great great maternal grandmother was Emma Watts. She was married to Theophlous Taylor her father was also George "Bud" Watts (George was married twice). On the Emma Watts side he was married to Sarah Woods. On the Ruby Watts side he was married to Melissa Edwards who falls a generation later on my pedigree chart. Melissa Edwards father was James Edwards. I don't know if James Edwards was related to Francis Watts wife Vasti Edwards or not but, the way my pedigree chart reads so far I wouldn't be surprised. So much for in-laws and outlaws. Please put me on your E- mail list and thanks again for your time and efforts.

The decendants of this Watts line mainly stayed in Robertson and Cheatham Counties of TN.  However, one son of James Watts and Courtney Lovell, John Washington Watts, did move to Jefferson Co., IL in abt. 1852.

I am decended from William Wesley Watts b. 1833 in Robertson Co., TN and the son of James Watts and Courtney Lovell.

I have a great deal of information on all decendants of Thomas Watts and Betsy Jones.  I would be happy to share if anyone is interested.

QUERIES

1.  From:  KerryStahl@aol.com

I don't even know where I got the idea there was a Reubin Watts-  I thought someone wrote me that there was and that that is why Mollie Watts named her son Reubin Watts Kelly,  and my grandmother named my father Reubin Watts Parker  (my then 15 year old uncle effectively changed my father's name to Kelly John).

My father's birth certificate name was Reubin Watts Parker,  his grandfather's name was Reubin Watts Kelly,  his grandfather's mother was Mollie Watts b. 1818.

Mollie Watts born 1818, married John D. Kelly b. 1807 is the earliest info I have, although Reubin Watts Kelly married a Leggett descended from Benjamin Wright Leggett.  The Kellys,  Leggetts,  Shephards and Watts all seem to have served together in the Rev War. The family was probably originally from Ga. in the Rev war time frame,  with a later move to Mississippi,  time unknown.

Do you have Leggetts or Kellys also?

If anyone has information on this family please message both Kerry and myself.  Thanks.      Lori

2.  From:  SNDE92B@prodigy.com (MRS ROBERT E WALLACE)

Here is a query for you.  I just sent off for the Marriage record for James Watts m. Jane Holly in Tishamingo/Alcorn Co. MS in 1847.  The Witness/Bondsmen for the marriage bond were George and Frank/Franklin Young.  Does anyone know of them?  I think one of them married a Lindsey/Lindsay and two generations one of the Bennett decendants (3 of which m. Watts) also married an Amos Linsey.  Does anyone out there know of these people?

Becky

"A HISTORY OF THE DAVIESS-McLEAN BAPTIST ASSOCIATION IN KENTUCKY,

1844-1943" by Wendell H. Rone.  Probably published in 1944 by Messenger Job Printing Co., Inc., Owensboro, Kentucky, pp. 422-423.
Used by permission.  [Madison]

WILLARD BRADLEY WATTS:  This young minister of the Gospel was born in Breckenridge [sic] County, Kentucky, on October 23, 1907, and is the  eldest of two sons born to Ernest Kelly and Rosie Tucker Watts.  He received his common school education In Breckenridge [sic] County and in the public schools of Owensboro, Kentucky.  He spent two years in a normal school in his native county and has completed two years of work in the Baptist Bible Institute, at New Orleans, Louisiana.

His conversion took place in the year 1929 and he was baptized into the fellowship of the Seven Hills Baptist Church by Rev. E. I. Spivey.  He was ordained as a deacon of this Church in 1937 and

served in that capacity until 1939 when he went off to school in New Orleans.  He was licensed to preach by this Church in 1939 and was ordained to the ministry on July 19, 1942, by Revs. R. E. Humphreys,

L. M. Winstead, R. E. Gregory, W. H. Rone, G. C. Lovan, D. Arthur Dailey, F. W. Malone, W. G. Potts, and W. W. Harvey.  While attending school in New Orleans he served for a few months as pastor of the Mt. Pisgah Church.  He served the Hopewell Church from May, 1942, to October, 1943, and the Green Briar Church from April, 1942, to October, 1943.  He is now at the Broadway Church, Richmond, Kentucky.

Brother Watts was married to Miss Lucille M. Kasey, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Kasey, of Owensboro, Kentucky, on November 12, 1927.  They have one son, James.

Before entering the ministry our brother labored for five years as a shipping clerk and for some time as a mechanic.  He is one of the most promising young preachers in the author's acquaintance and

has made rapid progress in his calling within the last two years.  A large and useful ministry is before him and and [sic] success should crown his efforts.  He has gained a close attachment with the people whom he is serving as pastor.
