 I would like to say this is by far the coolest information on the watts family line I have seen on the net.  I am doing The line of Watts in South Carolina and have gotten stuck.  I am at Samuel D. Watts and Eliza Brewer.  There son William Edward Watts is my husbands gggrandfather. William was married to Wincie Manugam.  The son Lee was my husband ggrandfather.  With my husband being a Watts he knows very little of them.  William lived in pageland when he died in 1930.  Thanks to Neal who pointed me to this cool site.

Research: ìThe family of James Kirkham moved to Tennessee near Nashville in the year 1801. They had resided in North Carolina during the Revolutionary War and had much trouble with the British troops on
account of James Kirkhamís adherence to the Revolutionists. It is related by a granddaughter of James Kirkham (Ann Thomas Kirkham Warder) that all patriotic citizens were asked to take the oath of allegiance to the Royalist government in the State of North Carolina during the Revolutionary War. To take this step was to endanger his life and the safety of his family. It is told in the family that he was ploughing in
his field when the Commissioners came to administer the oath. The oath was presented to James Kirkham and without saying a word, he signed it although his hands trembled and shook with emotion. He well knew the danger that would inevitably come to him and his family, but he did not hesitate to take the oath and affix his signature. It is more than probable that James Kirkham was enrolled as a member of the North
Carolina Militia during the Revolutionary War. He is the ancestor from whom sprang the Kirkham family of Tennessee.î

I am looking for the parents of John W. Watts b. GA abt 1860-1870, married Emma Jane Nelms. I am told he was from Upson Co, GA (Thomaston) and that the Nelms were from Fayetteville, GA. I have not found a marriage record for John W. and Emma. He had links to Bibb Co, GA and also later in Spalding Co., and Pike Co. They had at least one son, Robert B. Watts who lived in Spalding Co.

John Watts/Sarah Goetshious-Albany area NY/Franklin Co,Ohio late1700-1800s

I need to find the parents of John Watts (c1782/85-1826) from the "Albany area" of New York.  Moved to Franklin County, Ohio c1812 with wife Sarah Goetshious Watts and probably three children. Children's names are
Nicholas;  Joseph;  Maria;  William;  Catharine;  John;  Hiram;  Sarah.
Father could be William Watts (c1768-1846) who came from New York to
Franklin County c1804 and had at least two sons (not named) who followed
him to that county---suspect that they were William and the John mentioned
above. Family could have originated in MASSACHUSETTS.  Any help
appreciated; this Watts line is the one that expanded to Union, Delaware,
Lawrence counties, Ohio. Not to be confused with the Bedford County John

VICTORIA WATTS
Bismarck — Victoria Watts, 95, of rural Bismarck died Monday (April 30, 2001) at colonial Manor Nursing Home, Danville.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Pape Memorial Home and Gardens, 10 E. Williams St., Danville.  Pastor Herb Dale Smith will officiate.  Burial will be in Spring HIll Cemetery, Danville.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ms. Watts was born March 21, 1906, at Danville, a daughter of Franklin David and Emma Howard Watts.

Surviving is a niece, Patricia Watts Neal of Bridgeton, Mo.

She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Ms. Watts attended Roselawn Grade School, graduated from Danville High School in 1924 and attended Mrs. Timmons Business School.  She had been a secretary and had worked and operated her family farm near State Line for many years.  Ms. Watts was a member of State Line Methodist Church and attended the Walnut Corner Church of Christ.  She was also a member of the Roselawn Garden Club, the Newell Township Historical Society and the Bismarck Senior Citizens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Roselawn Garden Club Scholarship Fund.
