I have done a good bit of research on my WATTS line, presently at a
brickwall & hoping for a breakthrough soon. Most of my research was done
before I got my first computer a couple of years ago.  I'd be happy to
share information with others. Also have a good bit of  WATTS info. that
to date does not fit into my own family, thus miscellaneous WATTS, but
glad to share and help where possible.

Unfortunately, I am still not on internet - hoping to be able to fit it
into our finances  within the next couple of months. We are retired and
on pension & social security, so fixed income. Meanwhile, I am grateful
for e-mail. JUNO is free, but  there is one problem, they will not accept
attachments. But right now, I can't complain and just try to work around
it - break things into several parts, & sometimes snail mail.

I am a g.grand dau. of  Isaac Pleasant "Pleaz" WATTS  (b.Nov.22,1821
probably inTN. - d. Sept.11, 1900 DeKalb Co.,TN.).  He m. (1) Mary
"Polly" Ellender ATNIP Nov.29, 1855,- my ancestress - & (2) Nancy H.
PATTERSON. Children of first marriage include: Georgiana, Louisiana (my
grandmoher), Roxemy, Catherine, John R., Isabelle, David Leander, Mary
Elizabeth, Nancy E., Malinda, Robert O., Martha E. and Calvin W.    I do
not know if there were children from 2nd marriage or not.  I have
marriages and some family information for some of the above named
children.

Isaac Pleasant WATTS  is believed to be son of Mason Bennett "Ben"  WATTS
& Mary CLEMMONS. Mason Bennett "Ben" & Mary  lived in Tenn. early 1800's,
believed to have removed to Washington Co., Mo. @ 1830-40 and then to
Arkansas where they both died near Little Rock of "fever".  The children
made their way back to TN. to relatives still there. Children include
Isaac Pleasant "Pleaz", Susannah, Mary J., John, Elizabeth, Thomas,
Sarah, and Ben.

Mason Bennett "Ben" WATTS is believed to be the son of Bennett WATTS and
Susannah THORNTON.  Bennet was probably born in Va., most probably in the
Fauquier Co. or surrounding area, probably around 1760.  He was on the
Fauquier Co. Va. tax list of 1788, but must have removed shortly
thereafter, for he married Susannah THORNTON in Oglethrope Co., Ga. same
year, 1788. There were THORNTON's in Fauquier Co., also, but not known
whether Susannah was from this group and the family may have traveled
together, or different THORNTONs.

Bennett & Susannah (THORNTON) WATTS removed to Jackson Co., Tenn. (date
unknown) where he died Apr.2, 1825 and she died 1839.  Bennett evidently
served in the Rev. War., son Thomas applied for his pension in 1851 from
Jackson Co.,TN., which was denied for lack of proof. Names of known
children are Mary ( b. @ 1790, married a ROBERTS), Thomas born @ 1800, d.
after 1851, & Mason Bennett, m. Mary CLEMMONS, listed 2 paragraphs above.
I believe there were very probably more children, but unknown to date.

Steve told me to tell you about my WATTS, names, dates, places, etc.
Please let me know what else I need to do to subscribe to your
newsletter. Thank you so much and I will await hearing from you.
Thank you very much,

Liz

I am looking for descendants of William Watts and Prudence Parr Lyle Watts.
William was born in England 1 Oct 1804 and Prudence on 24 July 1808.  They
were maried in England on 14 Mar 1832.  They came to New York by 1833, and
their oldest son Parmenas was born there.  They were in the Washtenaw Co.,
Michigan area by 1837, and their children John S., Matilda A., William, Martha
S., and Daniel E. were all born there.   William died 30 Dec. 1866 and
Prudence died 6 Jan 1862.  Part of the family ran the
Watts Organ & Piano Co. in the Detroit area and I have a picture of my great-
grandfather in front of it.  William Jr.  married Hannah Muscott and had just
one son that I know of, Felton Dan, who was my
great-grandfather.  Felton was a hardware store owner and later a physician.
He moved to Coeur D'alene, ID in the early 1900's, and then to Weston, Oregon.
He later moved to Portland, Oregon where he practiced medicine.  He died there
in 1940.  He had one child, Worth Phillips, my grandfather.   I would love to
hear from a cousin!

I have decided to approach looking for John Watts, b. 1799, VA, in a different
manner this time.  John was accompanied by his nephews, Richard, b. 1816, TN
and William, b. 1820, TN, to Searcy Co., AR around 1838, from Hickman/Wayne
County TN area.  The 1850 Searcy Co. Census, Wiley Cove Twp, shows Richard to
be married to Adeline, b. 1820, TN and they had the following children born in
Searcy Co., AR:  Milly Ann, b. 1840, Caroline, b. 1843, Samuel, b. 1844,
Nancy,b. 1845, Sarah, b. 1847, and Marion (M) b. 1849.  The same census shows
William to be married to a Rachel, b. 1825, TN, and they have the following
children born in Searcy Co., AR:  Elizabeth Ann, b. 1844, James A., b. 1847,
and Benjamin B., b. 1849.  I would be interested in any of these people
descendants and names of any siblings of Richard and William and their parents
names.  I thought this might help me further on locating information on the
elusive John Watts.  Thanks, Joan Jones
