Milton Bennett 2. SWWCPCC@aol.com I appreciate receiving the newsletters. I'm going to take some time this evening to go over them. In the meantime, I've finally prepared a brief on my side of the family. I hope that you can use it, and that it will assist others on what they already have. Descendants of James WATT(S) 1

have shortened the outline sent to five generation because of space.

My WATTS connection is as follows: State of residence 1. WATTS: IL 4. Laurie
Watts Dyche - lauriedyche@juno.com Here is
what I have on my Watts family. I
would like to find other descendants of t his Michigan branch. Worth Phillips Watts, born 17 Jan 1902, Detroit, MI. He was an only child. He married Bessie Arnetta Yoder (daughter of William and Zua Skeels Yoder) on 22 Dec 1924, Newport, OR. He died 6 Apr 1944, Portland, OR, following a long illness.
I have a copy of a letter his mother wrote about his illness.
He apparently had a heart murmur and developed an infection
following some dental work. They
had 5 children, and the youngest is my father, who was 3 when Worth died. Worth's father was Felton Dan Watts, born 26 Mar 1866, Chelsea, Washtenaw Co., MI. He married Norah May Phillips (daughter of Amasa and Caroline Young Phillips) on 23 May 1888 in Dansville, Ingham Co., MI. He died 17 June 1941, Portland, Oregon. Felton was a merchant of musical instruments in Michigan.
I have a copy of a picture that shows the name Watts --Pianos &
Organs. Later he had a
homestead in Anoka, Idaho. There
are many photos existing of this homestead, as he was apparently an
amateur photographer. He also
built furniture. Following
this they moved to Coeur D'alene, ID,
where he apparently practiced medicine.
He also lived in Weston and Athena in northeastern Oregon, and
owned a hardware store. Finally,
he moved to Portland, Oregon, where he was an eye, ear, nose physician for
many years. I am working on getting more information on Felton, he was
apparently very talented. Felton was the son of William Watts, Jr., who was
born 20 Apr 1842 in North Lake, Washtenaw Co., MI.
He died 9 Jan 1886, and was buried in Fairview Cemetery, Dansville,
MI. He married Hannah A.
Muscott (daughter of Daniel
Felton and Sabrina Walsworth Muscott) on 15 Nov 1864.
I have a copy of their wedding picture. After his death Hannah
married James Young, who was
Caroline Young Phillips' brother. She
died 21 Jan 1901 in Walla Walla, Washington, and is buried in Weston,
Oregon. Felton had one sister, Kitty Eloise, who married John H. Gaylord. William was the son of William Watts, Sr., who was born 1 Oct 1804 in England. He died 30 Dec 1816 in Washtenaw Co., MI. He married Prudence Parr Lyle (daughter of Honor Eliot) on 14 Mar 1832 in England. They apparently came to New York first, where their son Parmenas W. was born in 1833. The rest of their children were born in Michigan: John S., 1837; Matilda A., 1838, William, above; Martha S., 1844; Daniel E., 1847. I have a copy of William Sr.'s naturalization papers dated 5 Sep 1841, which was recorded in the Circuit Court of Ann Arbor, Washtenaw Co., MI. ******************************************* WATTS in

History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Shelby
Co. C. C. WATTS was born in Shelby County, Ky., two miles from Shelbyville, in 1824. His father, Philip H. Watts, a teacher and farmer, was a native of Albemarle County, Va., served in the war of 1812, and died in New Goshen, Ind. His wife (mother of our subject) was Elizabeth McCampbell, who was born and reared in Rockbridge County, Va. She died March 20, 1844. C. C. Watts is the youngest of three children, and was educated in the schools of Shelby County. In early life he learned the carpenter's trade, and has been an architect for many years. In 1851 he married Miss Clara C. Gatewood, and has three children, Robe H., Henry M. and Anna B. Mr. Watts was a member of the board of trustees of Shelbyville for nearly thirty years; in 1878 he was elected police judge, which position he has held about nine years, and is now serving his third term. He is a member of the Masonic fraternity of over twenty years' standing, and has been an Odd Fellow for about thirty years. He is the owner of valuable property in Shelbyville. As
a citizen Mr. Watts is respected by all who know him, and as an officer
has the approbation of his townsmen and the public who elected him. Submitted by dmbeckha@sprynet.com

The GenWeb project is a group of volunteers who have created a
center for genealogical research for every county in the United States.
This is not a commercial enterprise and therefore is free to the
public. There is variation
between the states and some counties are still looking for “hosts”.
Below are a few addresses for sites I have checked out.

Hope another reader can help me with this line. My Great Grandfather was Levi WATTS b: 11/6/1845 in
St. Louis, MO. He married Anna Caroline GEHLE in 1878 in St. Charles.
Records indicate his father was Frederick WATTS b: abt 1800 in
Kentucky and his mother was Mary Smith b: 1818 in MO.
Levi had two sisters: Louisa
b: 1843 and Permelia b: 1848. Permelia
was always known as “Aunt Sis”. Frederick
believed to have had a first wife, name unknown, with children: Andrew W.,
